FAQs
1) I heard they're expensive. Do you have a cheaper one?
Since each ProPak steering wheel is designed by Dellis' own hands -- using over a quarter century's worth of mistakes to draw upon -- they're made to perfection. BUT, you get a wheel that will NEVER WEAR OUT and can be redesigned indefinitely, so it lasts a lifetime.
The NEW INTRO PROGRAMS now offer relatively mild molds for basically half-price. These wheels will get you roughly 75% of the benefits, and, later, if you want to upgrade to the ProPak Program, you get CREDITED THE FULL PURCHASE PRICE towards the purchase of your ProPak conversion on the same wheel. So, you can't go wrong.
If you want to step up from the Intro Programs and can forgo some options but still want a radical, pro-level winged-out wheel, then the Custom Tuner Program is for you. These are basically ProPaks without the Lifetime Tech Support and all the Free Options...but again, they're half-price.
2) What's the ProPak Program?
ProPak Program wheel conversions are mainly for professional drivers in IndyCar, Formula One, NASCAR, IMSA, and other professional racing series; however, amateur or semi-pro drivers often opt for them when sponsor money is available. It uses the composite thermoplastic material anywhere on the wheel as needed...not just the home positions.
They include UNLIMITED FREE Pro Tech Support so teams and drivers are free to experiment and fine-tune their grips to perfection. Later, when they're happy with the design, they can ship it back to Dellis for trimming, surface texturizing, safety mods, sponsor logo embossing, and basic overall beautification.
At the tracks on race weekends, Free Video Chat now allows one-on-one tech support from anywhere in the world.

3) What if I move my hands, or we have another driver and the grips are personalized for me?
Since grips are DESIGNED FOR THE TASK -- and not necessarily the hand -- rarely does a design become so personalized that others can't use it and get all the leveraging benefits.
Team Wheels have designs that allow for hand position and movement for all drivers. Typically, these designs don't use a lot of wing and flute definition. Dellis' own Beck LIster Corvette #007 used this design philosophy with this mold:

4) Will it give me blisters or break my fingers?
Only if you created a bad design. Problems can occur during a kickback. That's where PersonaGrip's Thumb Release gives your fingers the best chance to escape during a kickback. Of course, PersonaGrip cannot promise you 100% safety since racing is inherently dangerous. So, you use it at your own risk.
Obviously, Dellis cannot be responsible for your grip designs, either. However, the safe grip designs that he provides on your ProPak Program steering wheel conversion will be a tremendous improvement over your existing non-molded steering wheel. Intro Program wheels have molds with less-defined features, so they're ready to go.
5) Can The Steering Wheel Guy do MY steering wheel?
Yes, Dellis works with you so you're benefiting from his over quarter-century of experience in your ProPak Program.

You will have new-found confidence and be fully aware of the improvement the signal-to-noise ratio on the steering feedback signal that you are now able to feel for the first time at your finger tips....don't worry, it's explained in plain English so anyone can understand.

9) What does it feel like, and will it melt in the sun?
At operating temps, it's somewhat tacky and feels like firm rubber...NOT soft silicone or foam rubber. At higher temps, it gets tackier and softer.
The PersonaGrip material on the #007 Lister Corvette test vehicle sits outside in Southern California in an open-top roadster...daily. In the summer, it can get soft, but not enough to remold it.
However, the Green House Effect can sometimes increase interior temps high enough to remold it, so test it accordingly.
Since your hand acts like a heat sink and immediately removes the surface heat from the grip, it firms up relatively quickly when you touch it after sitting in the sun. So, you'll still need a heat gun if you want to completely remold it.
You really need to be in the desert in the middle of the summer in an enclosed car with the windows up to fully remold it. But, Dellis cannot be responsible if you burn your butt or legs on the seat when you get in the car.
So, if you don't want to remold it, keep it shaded with the windows cracked open a bit, and you'll be fine.
10) What if I don't like the custom-molded steering wheel?
Since you have total design control, you can remold it until you like it.
11) How much does it cost to get the steering wheel on my Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Audi custom molded?
That depends on these factors: embedded electronics, aftermarket/OEM origin, grip design, airbag, travel, number of wheels, ergonomic information captured during the interview, and video review of your steering method.
If you want Dellis to modify your wheel, Program prices range from $495--$2750 per wheel depending on options and program.
This provides you with design expertise from a racing engineer who has honed his skills for over a quarter century while working with hundreds of the world's best race car drivers in IndyCar/F1/NASCAR/Trans-Am/et al.
12) Why do I need to email a Video of me Driving and Trace my Hand?
Unless Dellis is present with you during your steering wheel conversion, a video will show your hand movement on the wheel and give him the info he needs to see to ensure success. The hand tracing is so he can compare your hand size to his. That info, together with you informing him that the wheel you're sending for conversion is too think, too thin, or just right, gives Dellis the info he needs to design the grips to suit your preferences.
